Grab enters the motorcycle taxi market through Move It

According to Grab Philippine's senior director for operations and strategy Ronald Roda, Move It will not be branded as Grab.

There's a change in ownership, but there's no merger of operations, Roda said.

In a statement, Grab also stressed that Move It will operate independently.

Following the deal, Grab intends to grow Move It's fleet with at least 6,000 partner-drivers "within three months."

The company will also work with Move It to further enhance its safety and service quality standards to be at par with Grab’s motorcycle taxi services across Southeast Asia.

Last year, the two firms partnered to allow Grab users to book Move It services using the former's mobile app. However, the technical working group stopped the partnership as the motorcycle taxi pilot program does not include a fourth player.

Currently, Angkas, JoyRide, and Move It are included in the pilot study.

It Chairman Francis Juan said.
