Starbucks celebrates 25th year in the Philippines

By extending the reach of its collaborations with Grab, the Philippine FoodBank Foundation, and Gawad Kalinga to aid local communities and hungry children, Starbucks helps the reduction of hunger in the market.

Noey Lopez, president and CEO of Starbucks Philippines, and Michael Conway, group president of Starbucks International and Channel Development, announced that Starbucks Philippines will award a USD 25,000 grant to the Philippine FoodBank Foundation and another USD 25,000 grant to the World Wildlife Fund as part of the company's celebration of its commitment to creating a more sustainable future in the market. These grants will be used to expand the ongoing Starbucks FoodShare and Kusina ng Kalinga feeding initiatives run by Gawad Kalinga.

The Starbucks Foundation also gave Gawad Kalinga a USD 50,000 Global Community Impact Grant in April 2022 to help with the Kusina ng Kalinga food donation program, which will benefit over 600 children. Within 95 days, the program hopes to get kids back to eating right.

In Laguna and Batasan Hills Gawad Kalinga communities, the Kusina ng Kalinga program had begun to be implemented as of July 2022. Starbucks Philippines partners will also volunteer with the community kitchens to assist with food preparation and distribution, and Starbucks Philippines' additional grant will help the Kusina ng Kalinga program reach more kids and families.

In honor of its 25th year of fostering relationships via coffee in the Philippines, Starbucks will keep advancing significant social change for neighborhood communities.
