Based on a GMA News online report, Henry Aguda has finally stepped down as the head of the Department of Information and Communications Technology. This was also confirmed by the incumbent Ombudsman Crispin Remulla.

Remulla shared the information on Saturday during his radio program, where he was asked what had happened to Aguda. "Nag-resign. Tinanggap na ‘yung resignation," he said.

His remarks follow a Palace briefing on Wednesday, when Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said Aguda would stay on as DICT chief and that the Palace had received no information about a resignation.

Castro also read a statement from Aguda that day, in which he acknowledged he was "aware of reports circulating" about his position. He said: "As Secretary of DICT, I serve at the pleasure of the President, and I fully recognize and respect the President’s prerogative in matters concerning his Cabinet and his administration. My focus remains on carrying out my responsibilities and serving the Filipino people to the best of my ability."

To recall, the department had come under public criticism in recent weeks over controversial decisions, including a 24-hour block on Discord that disrupted access for gamers, students, developers, remote workers, and some government offices.

What do you guys think?
