Back in September, the vivo V25 5G arrived in PH. Here's what we initially think about it and we have some camera samples too! |
vivo V25 5G first impressions |
As a recap, it comes with a 6.44-inch 90Hz AMOLED screen, MTK Dimensity 900 processor, Mali-G68 MC4 CPU, 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, 256GB UFS 2.1 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 44W FlashCharge.
It also comes with a triple-camera setup with 64MP f/1.79 with OIS, EIS + 8MP f/2.2 117-degree ultra-wide-angle sensor + 2MP f/2.4 4vm macro + LED flash. It also has a HUGE 50MP f/2.0 selfie camera with Eye Autofocus.
Is it worth the hype?
The device is priced at PHP 23,999, let's dive in.
Unboxing/Accessories
 |
Here is the box! |
The vivo V25 5G comes with a fairly typical box with vivo branding in front and the name of the device. |
The accessories |
Inside, you get the smartphone, SIM ejector tool, a protective case, 44W charger, USB-C cable, wired earphones, USB-C-to-3.5mm jack dongle, and documentation.
Build/Quality

The vivo V25 5G changes colors! |
The vivo V25 5G has a mix of unique and familiar designs. First up, the front and back panels are made of glass. The frame is made out of metal which adds another layer of elegance. The back glass panel is protected by a Flourite AG matte finish to keep away fingerprint smudges and scratches. The highlight here is the color-changing back panel that it has. It changes colors depending on how the light hits it. Most of the people that noticed it were quick to say that it really is pretty.
It has more of a flat edge compared to other devices. Surprisingly, we still find it easy to hold due to its thin body of just 7.8mm thick. It also weighs 186 grams which gives it a heft significant enough to feel premium but not too much to be bothersome to hold in one hand. |
The 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen |
In front, it has a 6.44-inch Halo FullView AMOLED screen with 2404 x 1080 FHD+ resolution with a 90Hz refresh rate, 180Hz touch sampling rate, and 409 ppi pixel density. Being an AMOLED, you can expect amazing brightness, color reproduction, and a 6,000,000:1 contrast ratio. It also has an In-Display fingerprint sensor.
The bezels are slim all around. However, vivo still chose the dewdrop notch instead of a punch-hole cutout. Either way, the notch just goes in the back of my mind after a while.
vivo also wants to let us know that it has multiple cooling solutions in place to keep the V25 5G maintain good thermals even on the heaviest loads. |
Top side |
On top, there's nothing but one microphone. At the bottom, we get the USB-C charging port, SIM card tray, microphone, and down-firing speaker. |
Bottom side |
The left side is free of any buttons keeping it smooth. On the right side, there's the volume rocker and power button. |
Right side |
For more details, the vivo V25 5G measures 159.2 x 74.2 x 7.8 mm and weighs 186 grams.
 |
The triple-camera 64MP system |
At the back, it has a triple-camera setup with a 64MP f/1.79 w/ OIS, EIS + 8MP f/2.2 117-degree ultra-wide-angle + 2MP f/2.4 4cm macro + LED flash.
In front, it has a HUGE 50MP selfie camera.
First Camera Samples
 |
Wide daylight |
 |
Ultra-wide angle daylight |
In daylight, the vivo V25 5G's cameras performed really with sharp and detailed images. It also has vibrant colors and a decent enough contrast. Of course, the ultra-wide-angle will have a downgraded image quality compared to the 64MP main camera due to it having 8x less MP. |
Low light, outdoors |
 |
Lowlight ultra-wide, outdoors |
In low light situations, the main camera still performs great but the ultra-wide start to show a significant downgrade in image quality. |
Night shot, wide |
At night, the main camera did well with good dynamic range, colors, and details. |
Daylight selfie |
 |
Indoors selfie |
The 50MP selfie camera performed really well in both indoor and daylight shots. It retained a lot of details and has good color.

As of the moment
 |
As of the moment |
The vivo V25 5G is looking to be a good camera smartphone at PHP 23,999.
Its unique color-changing design is a head-turner. It also has a good AMOLED screen and ample battery capacity with 44W FlashCharge.
Its chip is not the speediest for the price, but it has an interesting camera system.
Based on what we earlier saw, except for the macro camera, it could be great for taking photos. With OIS + EIS, we are also looking forward to testing it for videos. The 50MP selfie camera makes it a good option for social media buffs. It takes impressive selfies that are main camera grade.
We will have to see how they perform as we run more tests.
Stay tuned for our full review that will come soon.
