Microsoft to challenge Google and Apple!

The news came through Phil Spencer, CEO of Microsoft gaming and Head of Xbox telling the Financial Times about DMA (European Union's Digital Markets Act) will help the firm in the development and introduction of the upcoming Microsoft mobile application store.

In case you don't know yet there's a new law that will take effect in 2024. This new rule will require Apple and Google to permit consumers to download and run third-party digital content on their devices, which are not available in their respective app stores.

We want to be able to offer Xbox and content from ours and our third-party partners on any screen anyone wants to play. Today we can’t do that on mobile devices, but we want to build the ecosystem that we believe will happen when those devices become open, continued by the Senior Executive from Microsoft.

In line with this, you will notice that recently, Microsoft bought several game developers such as Activision Blizzard. Recent acquisitions of top game publishers could likely hint at Microsoft's expansion towards this area.

Previously we've seen huge hits from Activision's COD: Mobile and even the Candy Crush Saga which the firm thinks can attract players away from the usual Apple App Store and Google PlayStore.

Right now apart from those two application store giants, there's also the HUAWEI App Gallery sitting at the third spot while there are also known Chinese App markets like the TapTap and APKPure.

What do you guys think?
