Company, school IDs?

The telco floated this idea of relaxing the identification requirement during a briefing on Thursday.

Hindi siya issued by the government pero 'yong identification 'yong habol natin, Globe's Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer Yoly Crisanto said.

The official also noted Globe’s proposal about a "conditional registration." She said this would allow subscribers to register without immediately uploading their IDs.

Tanggapin natin ng tamang panahon para makapag-upload sila ng ID in that way hindi sila mawawalan ng services ng April 27, Crisanto added.

Globe's Vice President for Mobile Prepaid Business Eric Tanbauco said that the government must extend the deadline and provide more options to customers.

Joining this call are Smart Communications and DITO Telecommunity, citing similar reasons. Subscribers have only until April 26 to register their SIM cards. The Department of Information and Communications Technology has the power to extend the process by 120 more days.

Based on the data from the National Telecommunications Commission, there are 66 million registered SIMs as of April 11.
