Reminders through OTP text message

We recently tried transferring money through GCash and received this text message.

When we received the OTP, the message that came along with it is clearer and more direct now to remind users to be careful about a possible scam.

The message starts with asking the user if he or she indeed requested the transfer, which will really catch one’s attention

If not, DON’T ENTER YOUR OTP ON ANY SITE OR SEND IT TO ANYONE because IT’S A SCAM! GCash said, ending the text message with the OTP.

This development came after the recent alleged hacking incident early this month.

GCash has clarified that it was not hacked and that this happened outside the platform.

Some users may have unknowingly shared their information with suspicious sites that pretended to be legitimate ones.

Through GCash’s swift action, the balance of its users was immediately corrected.

The e-wallet is also continuously implementing measures to protect its users.

This includes the "DoubleSafe" Face ID that uses an industry-first face recognition technology to ensure that the person accessing an account is the same as the one registered on GCash.

What do you think about this?
