MediaTek Dimensity 8300 launched!

First of all, the new chip uses 2nd generation of TSMC's 4nm process technology. It comprises 8 cores 4x Cortex-A715 performance cores clocked at 3.35GHz and another 4x Cortex-A510 energy efficiency cores with boost clock of up to 2.2GHz

According to MediaTek, its performance gain is enhanced by 20 percent and the power draw is reduced by 30 percent against its previous generation.

For GPU prowess, it has a 6-core Mali-G615 that can bring 60 percent better peak performance and 55 percent energy efficiency versus the previous gen as MediaTek claims.

In terms of AI, the chip has full support for generative AI thanks to its APU 780 processor. This will let the chip give support to developers to build sophisticated apps that use large language models (LLMs) up to 10B and stable diffusion.

The APU 780 has the same architecture as the flagship Dimensity 9300 SoC, which results in a 2x increase in INT and FP16 processing and a 3.3x increase in AI performance over the Dimensity 8200.

For imaging, it has MediaTek's 14-bit HDR-ISP Imagiq 980 which should bring sharper and clearer videos at 4K resolution and 60 fps HDR and record longer due to the chip's low power consumption.

The HyperEngine adaptive gaming technology optimizes power savings significantly. According to the firm, the chip intelligently adapts to computational needs and monitors device temperature, keeping devices cool while improving gameplay, so users can enjoy full FPS, low lag, and seamless graphics.

For connectivity, it supports ultra-fast speeds with its built-in 3GPP Release-16 standard 5G modem. This also supports 3CC carrier aggregation with up to 5.17 Gbps downlink speeds.

According to MediaTek, we can expect devices with Dimensity 8300 to hit the global market before the year ends.
