Goodbye HUAWEI P Series, will upgrade to "Pura" starting with PuraP70!

HUAWEI Consumer Business Group CEO Richard Yu has just announced on Weibo that the P Series will be "upgraded" to "Pura" starting with PuraP70.

According to Mr. Yu, the Pura Series will adhere to the concept of high-end, ultimate, simplicity, and purity, and integrate technology, fashion, and art. He also promised that they would create a more unique and more modern aesthetic design and continue to challenge the limits of mobile imaging to bring a better photography experience to its customers around the world.

Based on its teasers on Weibo, the first device under the "Pura" line is the PuraP70.

The teaser showed that it'll have a rectangular "play button-like" camera design which is consistent with the earlier leaks of the supposed HUAWEI P70.

To recap, the HUAWEI P Series started in 2012 with the Ascend P1. It became widely popular around the world after its partnership with Leica with P9. The last P Series is the P60 Series, the arguably best photography phone of its time.

There is no word on the official release date of the Pura70 yet.
