Here are our early thoughts and unboxing experience of the recently released HUAWEI WATCH FIT 3 smartwatch. |

To recap, the new watch runs on HarmonyOS 4.0 and can connect devices with HarmonyOS, Android 8.0 or later, and iOS 13.0 or later.
It is a style and health-focused smartwatch featuring an updated aluminum metal build, rotating crown, bigger squarish display, and a ton of fitness and health-related functions for the starting price of just PHP 6,499.
It also has 5 ATM water resistance and it connects wirelessly through Bluetooth 5.2 BR and BLE. It can operate down to -10 degrees Celsius or up to 45 degrees Celsius.
In the Philippines, it will come in various colors including Grey, White, Green, Pink and Black.

Build Quality/Design

Sleek body with curved glass panel |
At first glance, the WATCH FIT 3 looks refined with its squarish body, curved corners, and curved top and bottom panels. There are no strap lugs but the straps are attached directly to the watch body. The middle frame has a gray faux metal finish, measuring 43.2 x 36.3 x 9.9 mm.
Premium body and great looks!
The Watch Fit 3 with a Red-colored rotating crown is the NFC variant while the one with the Black rotating crown is the standard edition.
It also comes with different types of straps and colors to choose from like Gold (White Leather), Silver (Grey, Green, White), Pink (Pink), and Tarnish (Black).
On top is the 1.82-inch AMOLED touchscreen with a 480 x 408 resolution or 347 ppi.
HUAWEI claims that it has undergone several durability tests including drop tests, rolling tests, hard load tests, button durability tests, temperature shock tests, temperature cycling tests, high heat and humidity test and water resistance test.
The Watch FIT 3 even has 5 ATM of water resistance means that it is water resistant up to 50 meters for 10 minutes.

The watch body itself is lightweight with a faux metal finish. The bottom has a glossy black panel with the sensors, charging CPU contacts and the strap release buttons. The straps are easily removed with the quick-release buttons.

On the left are the speaker grills while on the right are the crown, microphone port and home button.

Wrist straps |
The straps are made of a malleable rubber that is lightweight and soft to the touch. It has the traditional strap buckle with incremental adjustments for a perfect fit.
Initial set-up is easy and straightforward. However, you will need to download the Huawei Health app. It is available for Android 8.0 or later, iOS 13.0 or later, and HarmonyOS.

During the initial set-up, we immediately noticed the responsiveness and accuracy of the touch screen.

It can monitor, record and visualize biometrics like heart rate, SpO2, pedometer (steps), calories, sleep, and stress levels.
It has a new Pulse Wave Arrhythmia Analysis feature that uses a high-performance PPG sensor that supposedly detects anomalies in the user's heartbeat.
The watch also features a cycle calendar for Women's health.
HUAWEI claims its 400mAh battery can last up to 4 days with typical usage and the Always-On display turned on. It can last up to 10 days with minimal use of its features.

Like other recent HUAWEI smartwatches, it is also compatible with Android and iOS, so you don't need to be locked in the HarmonyOS ecosystem.
It has a 400mAh battery that supposedly lasts up to 10 days but still uses the same two-charging pin charger. We had hoped that smartwatches have evolved to be Wireless charging compatible by now.
