Build Quality/Design

HONOR 200 Pro's unique design |
At first glance, the phone looks stunning because of the front and rear quad curved glass panels and the polycarbonate frame with a faux reflective metal finish. The frame makes the phone solid yet lightweight, especially with the two glass panels.
Solid yet fairly lightweight
The back is interesting as it has both a glossy reflective finish and a brushed texture finish. The area with the brushed finish even has an ocean water movement-inspired pattern. Around the camera module is a large oval glossy finished polycarbonate trim. The camera module itself is made of a glass panel too.
Upon holding the phone, you immediately notice how the curved front glass panel, curved frame, and curved rear panel make the phone easy to hold. However, the front glass panel and glossy frame make the phone slippery and prone to fingerprint smudges. We recommend wearing a case right away.
It measures 163.3 x 75.2 x 8.2 mm and weighs 199 grams. It is IP65 water and dust resistance rated.
 |
Curved front display |
In front is the aforementioned 6.78-inch Quad-curved AMOLED screen with a 2,700 x 1,224 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, a 3,840Hz Risk-free Dimming, and a 4,000 nits peak brightness. It supports 1.07 billion colors and covers the DCI-P3 wide color gamut. It has Wet Touch enhancement and a Full-screen Alway-On display. The panel is Netflix HDR Certificatiedand Amazon HDR Certificatied.
Around the panel are super slim bezels. The punch hole with the selfie camera is on the upper part of the panel. Above it and inside the top bezel is the super slim earpiece.
 |
Top and bottom view |
On top are the top-firing speaker, IR blasters, and microphone port while at the bottom are the bottom-firing speaker grills, USB-C port, microphone port, and SIM tray.
The SIM tray accommodates up to two nano SIM cards and has a rubber gasket. This reinforces the phone's IP65 water and dust resistance rating.
 |
Left and right sides |
On the left is a smooth surface while on the right are the polycarbonate volume rocker and the power button. Both buttons have a nice resistance to them while feeling satisfying when pressed. However, it still feels plastic-y.
 |
HONOR 200 Pro's triple rear cameras |
The back has the 50MP f/1.9 main camera with OIS, a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide angle camera, and a 50MP f/2.4 2x telephoto camera with an LED flash.
While in front is the 50MP f/2.1 selfie camera.
The included modes of the stock camera app include Photo, Video, Aperture, Portrait, Pro, Night, Night video, Multi-Video, Slo-Mo, Panorama, Time-lapse, Watermark, Super Macro, High-Res, Solo-Cut, Story and Scan document.
The Pro controls include metering (Matrix, Center, and Spot), EV (+-4), the file format (JPG, RAW), ISO (50-6,400), Shutter speed (1/6,400-30 secs), Focus, and White Balance.
The Portrait Mode is equally robust with bokeh strength control (f/1.2-16), and Beautifcations. HONOR has collaborated with the historic portrait studio Harcourt which yielded three different filters: Harcourt Classic, Vibrant, and Color.

If you look closely at the images from the rear cameras, the sharpness, detail, and colors are slightly different on each camera. The images shot with the 1x and 2x are the best while the ones shot with 2.5x and ultra-wide are somewhat softer and the colors are not as vibrant. |

What surprised us right away were the selfie camera images because of the sharpness, detail, skin tones, and the natural depth separating the subject from the background.

Quick thoughts
 |
Websurfing on HONOR 200 Pro |
At PHP 29,990, the HONOR 200 Pro is one of the more appealing smartphone options because of its near bleeding-edge flagship specs including the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, 4,000nits 120Hz AMOLED QHD+ screen, 100W charging, IR blaster, stereo speakers, and IP65 water and dust resistance rating.
However, the scales could be influenced by 50MP main cameras, 50MP telephoto, and 50MP selfie cameras. HONOR has always pushed the hardware and software that have awarded them top marks in DXoMark.
The initial camera samples from the 1x, 2x, and selfie cameras were surprisingly good out of the box while the rest could see some tweaking.
Let's not forget the stereo speakers, NFC, 5G, WiFi, Bluetooth 5.3, and a 5,200 Silicon Carbon battery.
So far we are excited to see how far the HONOR 200 Pro can perform so we will be using it as one of our main phones.
Those who pre-order the HONOR 200 series from July 17 to 26, 2024 will get a FREE JBL Soundgear Frames worth PHP 9,499.
Stay tuned for the camera samples and the full review soon.
