The opening was marked by the unveiling of the main event posters, led by Dr. Emilio C. Yap III, President of the Manila Bulletin Publishing Corporation; Secretary Herminio "Sonny" Coloma Jr., Publisher of the Manila Bulletin; Luca Li, HUAWEI Smartphone GTM Manager; Rene S. Napeñas, NCCA Head of Public Affairs and Information Office; and Jorell M. Legaspi, Deputy Director-General for Museums of the National Museum of the Philippines.
Secretary Coloma highlighted that the goal of this exhibit is to reach as many Filipinos as possible.
The National Museum regularly attracts scores of visitors who are interested in the history and cultural heritage of our country. The purpose is to really bring these images to as many Filipinos as possible so they may have a broader vision and knowledge of what makes our nation a great country, he stated.
The highlight of the event was the participation of partner photographers Silver Belen, Noel Pabalate, and Jan Mayo.
The photographers used the HUAWEI Pura 70 Series smartphones. They also shared their experiences using the phones and showcased its advanced features such as the Telephoto Macro Shot and Portrait Shot. The said features allowed them to capture the intricate beauty of the "great outdoors in unparalleled detail" for a mobile phone.
I wanted every photo to reveal incredible landscapes and life forms that define the Philippines. But the HUAWEI Pura 70 series' clarity and versatility helped me capture more than that. I captured moments that speak volumes about our commitment to preserving nature. It’s an honor to share these images and inspire others to protect our environment, Jan Mayo, a new partner photographer for this year, said in his speech during the program.
While Silver Belen highlighted his latest favorite HUAWEI phone feature,
With every click of the shutter, my goal is to highlight the delicate balance between life forms and their natural surroundings. The advanced features of the HUAWEI Pura 70 series, such as the Telephoto Macro Shot, enabled me to capture these moments in stunning detail, and see and appreciate the wonders of our environment up close.
The photographs were printed on fabric canvas using eco-solvent ink, offering a fresh perspective on the lesser-explored parts of the tourist destinations in the country. It includes Quezon City, Bohol, Leyte, Ifugao, Batanes, and South Cotabato.
The group said that the stunning landscapes, intricate close-ups of flora and fauna, and dynamic portrayals of natural ecosystems provide a unique learning experience for visitors, underscoring the importance of environmental conservation.
The exhibit is open to the public until September 1, 2024.
