Based on the recent Ookla Speedtest conducted during the Gilas Pilipinas vs Hong Kong FIBA Asia Cup Qualifiers, Smart 5G tops on-site speed tests at the SM MOA Arena.
The speed test results taken at 9:03 PM on November 24, 2024, Smart records a download speed of 231 Mbps with an upload speed of 45.7 Mbps. Competitor Globe has an upload speed of 27.1 Mbps while DITO failed to complete the speed test.
Recording good speeds in crowded areas like the SM MOA Arena with a seating capacity of around 15,000 people is a strong feat as everybody else is trying to access the network simultaneously.
With these results, Smart subscribers were able to keep connected online stay active on their go-to social media apps, and share game-changing hardcourt moments and play highlights instantly.
To recap, Smart worked closely with its technology partners Huawei and Ericsson last year to permanently optimize its LTE and 5G mobile network coverage in the country's major venues, including SM MOA Arena, the Philippine Arena in Bulacan, and the Smart-Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City, to provide subscribers with a "world-class" mobile experience.
By the way, Gilas Pilipinas won the game 93 to 54.
