ZTE Corporation has partnered with DITO Telecommunity to upgrade the Philippines' network infrastructure through the deployment of TDD Massive MIMO technology. This collaboration aims to enhance mobile connectivity and capacity across the country.

In 2024, DITO conducted an evaluation of TDD Massive MIMO technologies, comparing 8T8R, 64T64R, and other configurations. The analysis concluded that the 32T32R solution was the better choice.

Led by DITO Telecommunity Wireless and Network Planning Senior Advisor Vincent Zhou and assisted by ZTE, the companies launched the pilot site in high-demand areas.

The 32T32R deployment achieved outstanding results compared to the 8T8R:

• 99 percent improvement in spectrum efficiency
• 92 percent increase in average cell traffic volume
• 75 percent growth in average connected users

These results underscore the transformative impact of TDD Massive MIMO on enhancing 4G network capacity while ensuring cost-effectiveness.

Following this development., ZTE and DITO are preparing to expand the commercial rollout of the 32T32R solution. The wider network will significantly enhance spectrum utilization, improve user experiences, and support DITO's revenue and service goals in the future.
