New GCash feature for easier transactions
As a way to further ease the use of online payments, GCash has started rolling out
its tap-to-pay feature on its platform.
Tap N' Pay lets GCash users pay by tapping their phone on the payment terminal, eliminating the hassle of having to scan a QR code or swipe a card. Plus, there are no additional fees for using this feature.
To use this new feature, you have to first check if your phone supports Tap N' Pay. The feature is currently available only on Android (Huawei and iOS devices are not supported at this time). Make sure your phone supports NFC, which is the technology that powers Tap N' Pay.
Check out this list to see if your phone comes with NFC. For some devices, you may need to go to your phone settings and turn on NFC.
Also, keep in mind that only select Fully Verified users can use this feature for now. To check if you’re selected:
- Tap "View All Services" on the GCash homepage
- Find "Tap N' Pay" under Pay
If you don't see this icon, you may not have been selected yet.
To activate:
- Login to the GCash app and tap View All Services
- Select Tap N' Pay
- Agree to the Terms and Conditions
You can use Tap N' Pay for in-store retail transactions on Mastercard and partner POS terminals. This is not available on transit, ATM, or e-commerce transactions.
To pay using Tap N' Pay:
- Login to the GCash app and tap View All Services
- Select Tap N' Pay
- Hold your phone near the terminal. You’ll hear a beep or see a green light once the payment is accepted.
You'll receive an app inbox message and a push notification, and then you’ll be redirected to a page confirming your successful transaction.
