Better late than never?

It's been a while since the popular music streaming app has been stuck to a max of 320Kbps resolution. This year it will all be changed with the Spotify Music Pro which will offer a true HiFi audio experience to its listeners as reported by Bloomberg.

The publication pointed out that Spotify is currently in the process of securing streaming rights with big music companies. In the first two months of 2025, Spotify has already entered a multi-year contract with Warner Music Group and Universal Music Group.

Additionally, it said the price could cost as much as USD 5.99 (around PHP 348.50) and may arrive as an add-on to the existing plan. Fortunately, it also reported the price could be more affordable in developing countries.

In comparison, Apple has been offering the Hi-Res audio for a base price of PHP 149 per month. It could even go cheaper at PHP 75 if you are a student in the Philippines.

Spotify allegedly intends to justify the additional fee by adding more features to Music Pro, such as song remixing powered by AI and concert ticket pre-sales that would give users an advantage for early access and exclusive offers.

As for the exact launch date, it remains to be seen for now other than the clue "later this year".

This HiFi streaming service has been in the works since 2021. It sure has taken a bit longer but the company may finally be able to bring what many consumers demand from them.

What do you guys think?
