MWC 2025: realme reveals Interchangeable-lens concept

Apart from the realme 14 Pro Series, the brand also introduced a concept of its own version of a smartphone with interchangeable lenses.

This is a prototype designed by realme with hopes to reshape the photography in smartphones.

With that being said, the device uses a 1-inch custom Sony sensor combined with a unique lens mount system so users can attach DSLR lenses directly on the smartphone.

Apart from the phone, the kit also includes two professional-grade lenses comprising of a  73mm portrait lens and a 234mm telephoto lens—delivering optical performance that was previously considered unachievable on mobile devices. This setup enables capabilities such as high-quality bokeh effects and lossless 10x zoom.

Although still in the prototype phase and not yet ready for mass production, the concept highlights realme's efforts to address industry challenges, such as sensor size limitations and the drawbacks of digital zoom, by integrating modular optics with mobile technology.

realme is the 2nd brand to introduce this kind of concept apart from Xiaomi. The question is, are we going to see an era of smartphones with detachable lenses in the future?
