Xiaomi Philippines just launched its newest entry-level smartphone called the Redmi A5.

Designed for those on a tight budget, but still want a decent device, the Redmi A5 brings plenty of upgrades coming from the its predecessor Redmi A3. It arrived with a bigger display, faster screen refresh rate, updated processor for better performance, larger battery capacity, and speedier charging than its predecessor.

The device is equipped with a glasstic back with gradient finish available in Midnight Black, Sandy Gold, Lake Green, Ocean Blue colors as well as a boxy 8.32mm slim polycarbonate body.

In front, it uses a larger 6.88-inch LCD screen (coming from 6.71) with a faster 120Hz refresh rate and 240Hz touch sampling rate. What remained untouched is the screen resolution at 720p+ and it still has a notch housing the selfie camera.

Inside, the device is powered by the 12nm UNISOC T7250 octa-core processor clocked at 1.8GHz, up to 4GB LPDDR4X RAM, up to 128GB eMMC 5.1 expandable storage, and a larger 5,200mAh battery with USB-C 15W fast charging.

According to Xiaomi, it can last for over 20 hours of video playback and over 9 hours of gaming.

It also sports a larger 32MP f/2.0 camera paired with an auxiliary secondary camera at the back and an updated 8MP f/2.0 shooter for selfies.

This also has a side-mounted fingerprint reader, 3.5mm headphone jack, dual-band WiFi, 4G LTE, GPS, and dual SIM slots.

It runs with Android 15 (Go edition) OS with lightweight apps for a smoother performance.
