The thinnest HONOR flagship foldable yet
HONOR is boasting that its new Magic V5 is the new world's thinnest foldable beating the OPPO Find N5, and that it builds on the legacy of the Magic V3 with improvements in design, durability, AI integration, battery and imaging. |
HONOR Magic V5 is 8.8mm thick |
The Magic V5 is apparently designed with an eight-curve frame and a 3D diamond-cut finish that reflects light. The company says that it drew from both Eastern and Western architectural styles, and that it will come in either Ivory White, Black, Dawn Gold, or Reddish Brown.
The Ivory White model is the thinnest, with a thickness of 8.8mm when folded and 4.1mm unfolded. Other colors are slightly thicker at 9.0mm when folded and 4.2mm unfolded. The phone weighs 217 to 220 grams.
HONOR says that the new foldable comes with a Luban Suspension Hinge made of durable steel that has been tested for 500,000 folds. The phone's frame is reinforced with a carbon fiber back plate and dual aerospace-grade fiber layers, which makes it flexible and supposedly 40 times more impact resistant.
It features a 7.95-inch foldable OLED inner screen with a 2,352 x 2,172 resolution and a 6.43-inch outer OLED with 2,376 x 1,060 resolution. Both panels feature an adaptive 1-120Hz refresh rate, a 5,000 nits peak brightness, and an HDR Vivid and Dolby Vision certification. The Inner screen is Glory King Kong Flexible Armor protected, while the outer screen is Giant Rhino Glass protected.
Inside the phone are the Snapdragon 8 Elite, Adreno GPU, 12GB/16GB RAM, 256GB/512GB/1TB storage, and a 5,820mAh battery. Only the 1TB variant comes with a 6,100mAh battery. The phone features 66W fast wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.
