TECNO
We share our experience with the new DJI Mic 3, the successor to one of the best wireless lavalier microphones that changed the game for pros and creators.
Meet DJI Mic 3 - Nearly Perfect for Pros?
DJI Mic 3 charging case, receiver, two transmitters, USB-connector, and two magnet clips

In 2022, the original DJI Mic revolutionized the game for easy-to-use wireless microphones for professionals and creators, thanks to its compact and portable design, charging case, internal storage, wireless transmission and range, flexibility, and connectivity.

In early 2024, the DJI Mic 2 introduced a tougher-looking charging case, 32-bit float recording, intelligent noise cancellation, longer battery life, and more.

Now, in late 2025, DJI introduced the new Mic 3 with several notable improvements, such as a massive slimming down of the receiver and the transmitters, while offering longer battery life and a wider range.

In the Philippines, the DJI Mic 3 is now available with a starting price of PHP 10,690 for one receiver and one transmitter only.

Our Experience

The Charging Case is a beautiful piece of tech with its rugged and sleek design. It is noticeably smaller at 106.3 x 42.5 x 59.2mm over the DJI Mic 2's charging case at 116 x 59.7 x 41.5mm. You can feel it in the weight, too, as the DJI Mic 3 Charging case weighs 164 grams while the DJI Mic 2 Charging Case weighs 200 grams.

It is made of high-quality polycarbonate with a premium metal-like texture.

On top are the DJI embossed logo and the Mic 3 text on the bottom right corner, while at the bottom are two rubber feet and the regulatory information.

In front are the locking mechanism and the battery level indicator LEDs, while at the back are the hinge and the USB-C port.

The charging case features a hard plastic shell with a near-metallic finish, providing secure, snap-in storage for components and enhancing overall ruggedness for on-the-go creators. It has so far resisted scratches and impacts with normal day-to-day handling.
DJI Mic 3 Receiver
DJI Mic 3 Receiver

DJI says that the DJI Mic 3 has a range of up to 400 meters from the DJI Mic 2's 250 meters, while slimming down the transmitters and receiver.

The DJI Mic 3 receiver is 53.9 x 28.7 x 22mm and weighs 25.1 grams, which makes it slimmer and lighter than the previous generation. In front, it has a 1.1-inch AMOLED touch screen over the previous generation's 1.1-inch OLED touch screen.

At the back are the USB-C port, the pull-out cover, and the Charging contact points. Users can pull out the cover to reveal CPU contact pins for the USB-C connector attachment. This allows users to connect the receiver directly to other devices, such as smartphones, without the need for a cable.

On the side of the receiver are the two 3.5mm audio jack ports. One is for audio-out for audio monitoring, and the second one is audio-in.

The DJI Mic 3's transmitters measure 28.77 x 28.34 x 16.35mm and weigh 16 grams. This means they are only slightly larger than the DJI Mic Mini's transmitters while offering more features. It even has a textured and translucent panel that gives users a peek at the insides.

On top of the transmitter are the microphone grills and two clip-on points. At the bottom are the QR code, regulatory information, and the charging pins, while on the side are the LED notification lights, record button, and the pairing button.

The transmitter also has a built-in clothespin-like clip, too. Included in the charging case are two magnet clips that allow users to discreetly pin the transmitters through clothing while allowing them to be pinned in the desired orientation.

The DJI Mic 3's receiver and transmitters are primarily made up of durable, high-quality plastic that offers a premium and robust feel while keeping the weight minimal for extended use.

With the USB-C connector, you can plug the receiver directly into your smartphone, tablet or preferred USB-C device that records audio.
DJI Mimo App with DJI Mic 3 plugged in

The DJI Mimo app is available for download from the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Once installed, users can sign up and log in. Once logged in, users can directly plug their DJI Mic 3 receiver with the USB-C connector to their phone. The App will detect the DJI Mic 3 and pair it. A new page focused on the DJI Mic 3 will open.

The first part of the new page is the new Timecode mode. Here, users can select which device are the master within the group of devices, the timecode frame rate or the System Time.

Users are given the option to control both the Receiver and the Transmitters on the app itself. For the receiver, users can control the audio channel, audio monitoring, receiver gain, auto on/off record with camera, auto off, transmitter group record (control audio recording on all transmitters), transmitter group noise cancellation, and noise reduction.

While the transmitter's settings are the speaker, record, transmitter gain, storage format, voice tone, noise reduction, and password security.

The app also gives users access to key settings and features such as lossless audio recording, low cut (removes unwanted frequency from audio signal to add clarity), adaptive gain control, 32-bit float recording, file option, startup auto recording, low power auto recording, loop recording, REC stop, Noise cancellation via Button, vibration, Mic LED, and Auto Off.

After two weeks, all the recordings from the DJI Mic 3 are crisp and high-quality, which we describe as having great clarity and high fidelity with minimal distortion.

We used to record audio for the new short videos posted on our social media pages. Check one of them below.

The 32-bit float internal recording is the standout upgrade and feature, as it significantly improves the quality of the audio while nearly eliminating the chance of audio clipping. (Clipping refers to a form of distortion that occurs when an audio signal exceeds the maximum limit that a recording device can handle.)

What also impressed us is that the DJI Mic 3 has a maximum range of 400 meters (up from the DJI Mic 2's 250 meters) because of its dual-channel transmission.

Ample battery life!

The DJI Mic 3's receiver is rated for up to 10 hours of use (from the 6 hours of the DJI Mic 2's Rx), while the DJI Mic 3's transmitters are rated for 8 hours (from the 6 hours of the DJI Mic 2's Tx). DJI is claiming that it takes only 50 minutes to charge the Transmitter and only 90 minutes to charge the Charging case. It supports fast charging, where 5 minutes of charge yields 2 hours of use.

In our experience, we were getting around 9 hours of use with the receiver and around 7 hours with the transmitters.

It charges via USB-C, and it takes around 90 minutes to fully charge the charging case. The impactful charging for the Tx and Rx is that the 5-minute charging yields 2 hours of use, as it keeps the two charged as long as we return them to the charging case when not in use.

Our thoughts

DJI Mic 3 receiber and transmitter
DJI Mic 3 receiver and transmitter

The DJI Mic 3 builds upon the already great DJI Mic 2 while making it smaller and extending the battery life, which effectively makes it one of the best wireless microphone systems that is widely available.

It still blows our minds how much smaller the DJI Mic 3 is over the previous generation, and the fact that it is just a little bit bigger than the DJI Mic Mini while offering up to 32-bit float recording. Another big benefit of the 32-bit float internal recording is having a high-quality backup that rarely clips, which is a huge relief for Pros.

The ability to scale and support up to 4 transmitter units and 8 receiver units simultaneously is a godsend for multi-person and group recordings, as it reduces bulk while capturing audio from multiple subjects simultaneously.

It has a maximum range of 400 meters, and in reality, we were getting 250 to 300 meters in real-world use. This is still better than most of the competition that uses 2.4GHz only, as its range averages from 100 to 150 meters.

Lastly, if you are in the DJI ecosystem of drones, cameras, and microphones, its interoperability and compatibility are unbeatable right now.

Overall, the DJI Mic 3 offers a near-perfect package with a starting price of PHP 10,690 for  1 transmitter and 1 receiver without the charging case.
