Is this the best wireless lavalier mic yet?

The wait is over, DJI has officially dropped the DJI Mic 3 in the Philippines. It is surprisingly feature-packed given that the components are lightweight at 16 grams per transmitter, 25.1 grams for the receiver, and 164.1 grams for the charging case only. The standout upgrades are that it can now connect up to four transmitters and eight receivers simultaneously and that it records internally in 32-bit Floating-Point Format.

The charging case measures 106.3 x 42.5 x 59.2mm and fits two transmitters, one receiver, two magnetic clips, and a USB-C connector.

Each transmitter is rated for 8 hours, and the receiver is rated for 10 hours. The case can charge them more than 2.4x, yielding 28 hours of total use with the charging case. The case supports fast charging, which yields an 80 percent charge in 18 minutes via USB-C.

The receiver features a 1.1-inch AMOLED touch screen to monitor the gain levels and battery statuses of both the receiver and transmitters.

It comes with a dual-level Adaptive Gain Control to balance volume automatically, so the voice recorded stays clear whether they are whispering or shouting. Users can choose from three voice tone presets (including Regular, Bright, and Rich) to match their creative direction, while the two-level Active Noise Cancelling will cut out the background noise.

With a 400-meter wireless range and dual-band anti-interference, users can expect to record high-fidelity audio from afar without pesky dropouts. The 48kHz, 32-bit float recording ensures that every ounce of audio detail is captured, which should yield incredible flexibility in editing.

Speaking of editing, the new integrated timecode support (with frame rates like 23.98F to 60F) should make video and audio syncing a breeze. The transmitters can record dual-file 32-bit float internal recording at up to 57.3 hours of 24-bit single-file storage or 21.5 hours of 32-bit float dual-file, so users are assured that they have backup tracks just in case.

The DJI Mic 3 seamlessly connects to other DJI devices, such as the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro, Osmo Action 4, or even the Osmo Pocket 3 via DJI Osmo Audio as a Plug-and-play setup. It can also connect wirelessly via Bluetooth or via the USB-C connector or 3.5mm audio jack cable.
