Setting a new standard for photo clarity?

OnePlus has announced that it is currently developing the OnePlus DetailMax Engine, its own imaging engine that aims to deliver the clearest and most realistic photos. This will replace its collaboration with Hasselblad.

Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, said that the company based the development of this imaging engine on extensive user interviews.

The message was consistent: our users want images that are clear and real. Most don't care about technical jargon, but they know the first thing they do is pinch to zoom in on their photos. That’s where the camera really gets judged, he said.

Insights from customers helped OnePlus develop an enhanced system for photography. With greater processing power and advanced algorithms, more data can be captured and interpreted for better quality photos.

Lau said the OnePlus DetailMax Engine is designed to "harness the full potential of computational imaging to present scenes as they truly are, without over-beautification or distortion."

The OnePlus executive said he is currently testing an early prototype, which is showing promising results. He said that by launch, OnePlus' camera will set a new standard for clarity in its class.

Lau said more updates will be shared soon and that customers should look forward to their next flagship with the OnePlus DetailMax Engine.

Meanwhile, OnePlus' parent brand OPPO recently announced that it will continue its partnership with Hasselblad.
