Xiaomi 17 Series confirmed to launch on September 25

Following the brief teaser, Xiaomi reveals the official launch date for its highly anticipated Xiaomi 17 Series.

Xiaomi to redefine flagship smartphones?

As per the confirmation, the devices are scheduled to be unveiled in China on September 25.

According to a company post on Weibo, the launch event will introduce three models: the Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Pro, and Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. 

The event is set for 7:00 PM local time (7 PM PHT). Xiaomi confirmed the entire series will run on the new Xiaomi HyperOS 3 and feature what the company describes as a "cross-generation power upgrade."

The Pro Max branding for the top-tier model marks a shift from the "Ultra" naming convention used in previous generations.

Promotional material for the launch provides a first look at the design of the handsets. All three models will feature camera systems developed in partnership with Leica. The standard Xiaomi 17 shows a rectangular camera module with rounded edges in the top-left corner of the back panel.

The Xiaomi 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models will include an additional feature called the "Magic Back Screen," a secondary display integrated into the rear camera module. This screen is designed to show information such as the time through customizable themes.

Xiaomi has previously stated that the series will be powered by Qualcomm's upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. Despite the new features, industry analysts suggest the pricing may remain in line with the preceding Xiaomi 15 series.

Lastly, the smartphones are now available for pre-reservation in China.
