OnePlus 15R launched: Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, 7,400mAh battery, 50MP Sony IMX906 camera

OnePlus has globally launched the OnePlus 15R, a more affordable variant of the 15 Series.

The design follows the signature aesthetic established with the OnePlus 13s series, featuring a flat rear and front panel. Its most distinctive element is the raised metallic camera module, which aligns with the broader OnePlus 15 series. This gives the 15R an appearance similar to a more streamlined version of the flagship OnePlus 15. 

An exclusive purple variant utilizing fiberglass will be available in the Indian market. It carries quad IP ratings IP66/68/69/69K dust and water resistance. The phone measures 8.1mm in thickness and weighs 213 grams.

The features

The front features a 6.83-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution, 165Hz refresh rate, 3200Hz touch sampling rate, 1,800 nits peak brightness, and 3840Hz PWM dimming.

The device is powered by Qualcomm's 3.8GHz 3nm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 octa-core processor. It is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and offers up to 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

Thermal management is handled by a 360-degree Cryo-Velocity Cooling System, which includes a 5,704mm² 3D vapor chamber and aerospace-grade aerogel insulation. 

Massive battery

For the battery, it uses a 7,400mAh capacity that charges using a USB-C 80W SUPERVOOC adaptor.

The camera system is led by a 50MP Sony IMX906 primary sensor with OIS + 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens. Furthermore, it carries the same OnePlus DetailMax Engine imaging technology as the OnePlus 15.

For selfies, the front-facing camera uses a 32MP sensor with autofocus.

Additional features include stereo speakers, WiFi 7, 5G, 4G, Bluetooth 6.0, GPS, NFC, IR blaster, and Android 16 OS with OxygenOS 16 skin on top.

It is currently available in India. No word yet if the phone will be available in other regions. We will let you know once OnePlus brings the device here in the Philippines.
