iQOO gets more serious about gaming

The iQOO 15 Ultra is scheduled to launch in China next month. Recently shared official images confirm the device's design and color options, and reveal a right frame equipped with touch-sensitive shoulder triggers. The company has now confirmed these triggers will feature haptic feedback.

This information was detailed in a Weibo post by an iQOO product manager. According to the post, the touch-sensitive shoulder triggers will operate with a 600Hz sampling rate and utilize two independent control chips aimed at reducing latency.

The design is also described as sweat-resistant, supported by what the company calls an "anti-sweat" algorithm intended to maintain performance.

iQOO product manager outlined several stated advantages of the touch-sensitive triggers over physical button mechanisms.

A linear motor will simulate tactile feedback to promote consistent feel over time. The touch-sensitive design is also cited as having a longer functional lifespan by avoiding mechanical wear, sitting flush within the frame to reduce dirt accumulation, and purportedly eliminating latency issues associated with physical buttons.

The inclusion of shoulder triggers is positioned as a feature to enhance the gaming experience. The post notes that for games with complex on-screen controls, such as FPS titles, triggers supporting command presets and combinations can simplify gameplay.

The product manager also stated that the iQOO 15 Ultra is designed with gamers in mind, reflecting the brand's user base.

Previous rumors suggest the iQOO 15 Ultra may include an active cooling fan and is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset. Further details are anticipated to be announced in the weeks ahead.
