Apple launches iPhone 17e in PH: 3nm A19 chip, 48MP 2-in-1 cam, satellite features, PHP 44,990

Apple today launched the iPhone 17e, the most affordable smartphone of the company.

Apple iPhone 17e is the fastest and smartest "affordable" iPhone yet

The new iPhone 17 promises a durable design, premium performance, twice the base storage, advanced camera technology, MagSafe charging, and satellite-enabled safety features.

According to Apple, the device is made with sustainability in mind, featuring 30% recycled content and 85% recycled aerospace-grade aluminium. Moreover, it has IP68 dust and water resistance. It is available in Black, White, and Soft Pink (matte finish).

Color options available

In front, the handset uses a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED with Ceramic Shield 2, with 3x better scratch resistance and reduced glare.

Under the hood, it is powered by the 3nm Apple A19 with a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, which supports "console-level gaming" and ray tracing. It also has a 16-core Neural Engine that is said to be optimized for generative AI and Apple Intelligence.

Apple said that this has "All-day" battery life and USB-C charging with 50% charging in 30 minutes usinga  20W adapter. This also has up to MagSafe and Qi2 up to 15W wireless charging.

MagSafe accessories support

In the camera department, it has a 48MP 2-in-1 Fusion camera with optical-level 2x telephoto with advanced Portrait mode with depth editing and Night mode. Moreover, it supports 4K Dolby Vision with up to 60fps, Spatial Audio recording, and wind noise reduction. 

In the connectivity department, it has an Apple custom C1X 5G modem, which is said to be 2x faster than the previous generation. It also has satellite-powered features include Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, text messaging, and location tracking with Find My.

The phone runs iOS 26 with Liquid Glass design and Apple Intelligence with AI-powered features like Live Translation, Call Screening, Hold Assist, and Visual Intelligence.
