Valve has officially announced the release date and pricing for the Steam Controller, following its initial unveiling in November without those details.

Not your ordinary gamepad?

The Steam Controller is set to launch on May 4 through the Steam store. The device features magnetic thumbsticks, a full range of inputs designed to support the entire Steam library, four haptic motors for high-definition rumble feedback, and an 8.39Wh battery rated for more than 35 hours of use per charge.

Included in the box is the Steam Controller Puck, which enables a plug-and-play, low-latency wireless connection and supports magnetic charging. The controller also supports Bluetooth and USB connectivity as alternatives to the Puck.

Compatibility extends across multiple platforms, including the Steam Machine, as well as Windows, Mac, and Linux systems. 


It is also compatible with tablets and smartphones running Steam or the Steam Link app, and supports the Steam Deck in both docked and undocked modes. Additionally, the Steam Controller can be tracked by Steam Frame cameras, allowing it to be used for non-VR gaming on a virtual screen.
