Canon to end operations of laser printer plant in PH

Sales, marketing, and customer service in PH are not affected

Canon has announced that it will close its laser printer manufacturing plant in the Philippines.

According to the company, this development comes amid a decline in printing demand. The plant will shut down by June 19.


The facility is located in Batangas, which has the capacity to employ 5,500 workers but currently has around 1,400 employees.

When asked to comment, Canon Philippines confirmed the report and also clarified the shutdown's impact on the company's Philippine operations.

As announced by Canon Inc., yes, the decision is final, but this decision doesn’t have any impact on Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc., the company told GIZGUIDE.

Canon Philippines said that Canon Business Machines (Philippines), Inc. (CBMP) is a separate legal entity from Canon Marketing (Philippines), Inc.

As such, Canon Marketing Philippines’ sales, marketing, and customer service operations in the Philippines are not affected by this development and continue as business as usual, the company said.
