REDMI Note 17 launched: 8,000mAh battery, 7-inch OLED, and Snapdragon 4 Gen 4

After the teaser, Xiaomi officially unveiled the Redmi Note 17 in China, featuring a huge battery and display.

Big screen + massive battery

The device comes in three color options: Black, Shallow Aqua, and Meteor Purple. Furthermore, it has an IP rating of IP65 for dust and water resistance.

The phone is built around a 7-inch flat OLED panel, the largest screen Xiaomi has ever fitted to a Redmi device, effectively blurring the line between smartphone and small tablet. 

The features

The display offers an FHD+ 2396 x 1080 resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,800 nits for outdoor visibility. It also includes an in-display fingerprint scanner, Wet Touch 2.0 for operation with damp hands, and a dedicated glove mode.

Internally, it runs on a 2.3 GHz, 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, backed by up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of UFS 2.2 storage.

As the main highlight, the REDMI Note 17 features an 8,000mAh battery, which the company says can deliver up to 2.33 days of typical use. The phone supports USB-C 45W wired fast charging and 22.5W wired reverse charging, allowing it to double as a high-speed power bank for other devices.

The camera setup is modest, consisting of a 50MP primary rear sensor and an 8MP front camera.

Other features are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos sound for immersive listening.

Connectivity features are WiFi 6 (2.4GHz/5GHz), 5G, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS, NFC, and dual SIM.

The REDMI Note 17 ships with Xiaomi's HyperOS 3, which places a strong emphasis on AI-driven security. 

The software includes an anti-fraud system trained on a large language model to identify and block script-based scam calls, as well as a detection tool that flags AI-generated face swaps during video calls and issues real-time warnings to users.
