Bright future ahead for Apple

Tim Cook is departing from his longtime role as Apple's CEO, marking the end of an era for the company. His exit comes alongside a wave of other high-level departures across Apple's executive ranks.

John Ternus is set to take over as CEO, inheriting a company amid significant leadership turnover. Among his first tasks will be rebuilding Apple's executive bench with a new generation of corporate leaders, one of many challenges awaiting the incoming chief executive. Additionally, he will also be focusing on Apple's AI development in order to advance hardware testing and device reliability.

Adding to the shake-up, Phil Schiller has also stepped down from his position leading Apple's App Store, according to a Bloomberg report. Schiller, who joined Apple in 1987 and took charge of the App Store in 2015, will remain with the company as an Apple Fellow—a title given to those recognized for outstanding technical or leadership contributions—though insiders reportedly view it as a likely precursor to his full retirement.

Carson Oliver, a 14-year Apple veteran, will take over daily App Store operations, as the division shifts from the marketing team to the services division led by Eddy Cue.

New iPhones for September

Apple is set to hold its annual fall event on September 9, titled "Surprise and shine," marking the first major presentation under incoming CEO John Ternus. 

The lineup is expected to include the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, alongside Apple's first foldable iPhone, reportedly dubbed the "iPhone Ultra," featuring a roughly 5.5-inch display when closed and a 7.8-inch display when unfolded. A standard iPhone 18 is not expected until spring 2027.

On the iPad side, expectations are more modest, though an eighth-generation iPad mini is anticipated to get a display upgrade, potentially featuring an OLED panel and a new chip.
