National ID to verify GCash

The reason? Many Filipinos remain excluded from financial services despite the growth of digital technology, with a Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas study showing that 40 percent of adults are unbanked because they lack valid identification.

To address this, PSA and GCash launched a joint initiative through PSA Co-location and GCash Barangay Outposts, enabling on-demand registration for both National IDs and GCash accounts. Since July 2025, more than 2,000 Filipinos across 25 barangays have benefited from this program.

With a National ID, citizens can begin their financial journey, access essential services, and build more secure futures.

Danielle, a 19-year-old street vendor, was unable to open a formal account without an ID. After registering, she gained access to GCash and Fuse Financing Inc., which has already disbursed PHP 362 billion in loans to 10.5 million borrowers. This opens opportunities for her to expand her business and eventually return to school.

Similarly, Alma from Bulacan plans to use GCash Pera Outlet Plus to start a bill payment service in her community.

Eldie, a construction worker recovering from a stroke, and Mutya, a laundrywoman, now enjoy the convenience of sending money to their families without traveling to stores.

With this, GCash is generally helping everyday Filipinos access financial services more easily, aiming to boost digital payments from over half of retail transactions today to 60 to 70 percent by 2028.

(Because of the financial services in the GCash app, more people will register for an ID to access features like the e-wallet.)

We want every Filipino to maximize the opportunities offered by the digital economy, and it all starts with having a valid ID. Accessing digital financial services opens doors to education, entrepreneurship, and better ways to manage their finances, said Ren-ren Reyes Jr., president and CEO of G-Xchange Inc., the mobile wallet operator of GCash.
