Bam Aquino pushes BIR to suspend Seal Badge mandate

He is advocating for online sellers and content creators who believe the requirement was implemented too quickly or is difficult to comply with. Aquino is asking the BIR to temporarily suspend the Registration Seal Badge requirement and consult affected stakeholders before moving forward.

To recap, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has extended the deadline for taxpayers to display their Registration Seal Badge until October 31, 2026.

Hiling natin sa BIR: ipagpaliban muna ang Registration Seal Badge requirement. Pakinggan muna natin ang hinaing ng mga online sellers at content creators.

The digital badge, which can be generated through the Online Registration and Update System (ORUS), contains a QR code that allows the public to verify a business's BIR registration.

Under this mandate, businesses, online sellers, content creators, and other covered taxpayers are required to display proof of BIR registration on their websites, e-commerce stores, and social media pages.

To address concerns about the public disclosure of sensitive information contained in the Certificate of Registration (COR), the BIR introduced the Registration Seal Badge, which may be displayed in lieu of the COR or eCOR while still allowing the public to verify a taxpayer's registration through a QR code.
