Tim Cook will have a new role as the "Executive Chairman" of Apple's board, focusing on global policymaker engagement and strategic guidance. Cook also remains involved in Apple's strategic direction.

His replacement? John Ternus, the new CEO of Apple, is joining the board of directors.

This shift in personnel was unanimously approved by Apple's Board of Directors.

This marks the end of Cook's era as CEO, one of the most successful in corporate history.

Cook grew Apple's market cap from USD 350B to USD 4T and annual revenue from USD 108B (2011) to USD 416B (2025).

Some of his key contributions include the development of the iPad, AirPods, multiple iPhone generations, and Mac innovations.

He also oversaw MacBook Neo and the iPhone 17 lineup (including iPhone Air), as well as advanced AirPods into hearing health devices.

He holds a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Meanwhile, Arthur Levinson also moves from Non-Executive Chairman to Lead Independent Director.

With these changes, customers may expect continued innovation in hardware and services, with Ternus likely emphasizing engineering excellence and sustainability.
