Apple launches iPhone 17: Now with 120Hz ProMotion screen, starts at PHP 57,990

Cupertino giant Apple today launched the highly anticipated iPhone 17.

The new iPhone 17 arrived in Lavender, Sage, Mist Blue, White, and Black colors, boasting thinner borders with contoured edges.

In front, it uses a 6.3-inch display, which for the first time has 1-120Hz ProMotion of adaptive refresh rate. It also has an extra bright 3,000 nits peak brightness and a 7-layer anti-reflective coating, as well as improved Ceramic Shield 2 glass protection with 3x better scratch resistance.

Inside, the device is powered by the 3nm A19 chip with a 6-core CPU, a 5-core GPU, and a 16-core Neural Engine, promising a 20 percent faster performance than the previous generation.

Storage starts at 256GB and comes with an All-day battery life with 8 more hours of video playback than the previous generation, 50 percent charge in 20 minutes using a 40W power adapter, and 8 hours of video playback in 10 minutes of charge.

For cameras, it uses an improved 48MP f/1.6 Hybrid Focus Pixel with Ultra Wide photos at 24MP by default. This is paired with a 12MP macro shooter for high-quality super close snaps.

iPhone 17 Sage

In front, it comes with the new 18MP Center Stage front camera with intelligent framing, removing the need to rotate your phone to switch to portrait or landscape selfies. Apple claims that with this sensor, which is 2x bigger than the previous generation, stabilized selfie videos are possible.

Apart from the Camera Control, the device now has the Action button, allowing users to long-press to launch Silent mode, Translation, Shortcuts, and more.

The device runs with iOS 26 out of the box with an improved Apple Intelligence like Clean Up, Live Translation, and more.
