Here's what's new with the iPhone 18 Pro Max
The iPhone 18 Pro Max is available in four colors: Black, Glacier (a light blue shade), Silver, and Burgundy.
Apple has dropped the previous Cosmic Orange option, with Burgundy taking its place as the more attention-grabbing choice, while the remaining colors cater to buyers who prefer a lighter look.
On the design front, the iPhone 18 Pro Max retains its aluminium frame, a material choice Apple has kept for better thermal performance rather than reverting to titanium.
The device also continues to use a glass cutout for wireless charging rather than an all-glass back, preserving the two-tone look that has become characteristic of the Pro lineup, though the back glass is now more closely color-matched to the frame.
In terms of protection, the rear glass panel is made from Apple's Ceramic Shield, while the front display is protected by Ceramic Shield 2.
Speaking of the screen, the 18 Pro Max uses the larger 6.9-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel with anti-reflective coating for privacy. Similarly, it also gets the smaller Dynamic Island, resulting in a large screen viewing experience. Apple notes you can now use 3 active items at once instead of two from the previous generation.

Inside, the iPhone 18 Pro Max is also powered by the new 2nm A20 Pro chip. This comprises a 6-core CPU with an integrated neural accelerator, a 7-core GPU, and a dual 16-core Neural Engine.
Apple notes this brings 50% higher memory bandwidth, 40% improved GPU performance, and 2x better AI performance than the A19 Pro.
As is typical for Apple, RAM capacity has not been officially disclosed. But storage options now include 256GB, 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB, marking the first time a 2TB configuration has been offered on the Pro Max model.

Camera-wise, it is similar to the iPhone 18 Pro. It uses the new 48MP Fusion camera with variable aperture f/1.48 to f/4.0, OIS + 48MP ultra-wide snapper with macro + 48MP Fusion telephoto with 4x optical zoom and 8x lossless zoom.
Video and photography software also see additions. The camera can record 4K Dolby Vision footage at up to 120fps, and the Camera app now includes manual controls and a histogram display for the first time, alongside Photographic Styles that offer more distinct looks with added texture and grain control.
Cooling gets an upgrade as well. Apple introduced a vapor chamber in its Pro iPhones last generation, and with the iPhone 18 Pro Max, the company has refined the design and increased its size to improve cooling performance.
The Camera Control and Action buttons carry over from previous models, and the phone remains IP68-rated for water and dust resistance, with Apple stating it can withstand submersion up to 6 meters for as long as 30 minutes.
On the software side, the iPhone 18 Pro Max ships with iOS 27, though it does not include the multitasking features reserved for Apple's foldable iPhone.

Pre‑orders begin Saturday, September 12, with availability starting Friday, September 18.
