Wide-screen Xiaomi 18 Fold is now official: XRING O3 10-core processor, Leica 200MP camera

In China, Xiaomi released its take on a wide foldable flagship smartphone, the 18 Fold.

Xiaomi's first wide foldable phone

To recap, new wide‑screen foldables (passport-style) excel at blending phone portability with tablet‑like immersion for entertainment, gaming, reading, and productivity.

When opened

This design is relatively new, only seen on the HUAWEI Pura X View and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8, and is expected to launch with the iPhone 18 Ultra.

This device arrived in a fresh-looking wide body available in Black, Ceramic Special Edition, Warm Gold, and Nishino Red. For protection, it comes with IP59 dust and water resistance.

It measures 117.8 x 83.6 x 10.68 mm when folded) and is as slim as 5.02mm once unfolded. The phone weighs 219 grams, lighter than the bar-type iPhone 17 Pro Max at 233 grams.

Making the foldable experience possible is its new durable hinge design. When opened, it'll flaunt a 7.58-inch dual-layer UTG glass-protected AMOLED screen w/a 120Hz refresh rate, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, and a 1672 x 2364 resolution.

When closed, the phone transforms into a compact yet wide 5.38-inch outer OLED screen w/a 120Hz refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 1712 x 1168 resolution. This comes w/ the Xiaomi Dragon Crystal Glass 3.0 protection.

Both displays have up to 4,000 nits of peak brightness.

Cover and inner screens

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 18 Fold is powered by the 4.35GHz 3nm XRING O3 10-core processor with 16-core G2-Ultra NX and 4-core Xuanjie NPU for AI. On paper, this is one of the most powerful smartphone chips in the world.

The handset also has 12GB/16GB LPDDR5X/LPDDR6 RAM, 256G/512GB/1TB UFS 4.1 storage, and a large 6,000mAh battery w/ Type-C 67W wired and 50W wireless charging options.

Keeping the performance cool is its 3D ring cold pump cooling system.

It also has a Leica 200MP f/1.7 OIS primary camera, 50MP f/2.4 ultra-wide shooter, and a 50MP f/2.8 3.5x telephoto camera. For selfies, both the cover and inner screens have a punch-hole for a 16MP f/2.2 camera.

Other key specs of the phone include a side-mounted fingerprint reader, stereo speakers, 3x microphones, WiFi 7, 5G, Bluetooth 6.0, infrared sensor, flicker sensor, and HyperOS 4.0 skin based on Android 17 OS.

There is no information on whether Xiaomi will launch this phone outside of China yet.
