Apple has announced a new iMac powered by the M6 chip, bringing higher performance, expanded on-device artificial intelligence capabilities, and updated connectivity to its all-in-one desktop.
The iMac retained its thin profile and is available in seven colors: Blue, Green, Pink, Yellow, Purple, Orange, and Silver.
Each unit ships with color-matched accessories, including a Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and either a Magic Mouse or a Magic Trackpad, both of which charge through USB-C.
Meanwhile, the aluminum stand is made from 100 percent recycled material, and the packaging is entirely fiber-based.
Among the highlights of the iMac is the 24-inch 4.5K Retina display with 4480 x 2520 resolution, 500 nits of brightness, and P3 wide color gamut support for more than a billion colors.
Apple says the screen offers five times the resolution and nearly 70 percent more brightness than the displays on top-selling competing all-in-one PCs.
Meanwhile, the new M6 processor takes center stage for this device.
Apple says it features a 12-core CPU and up to a 12-core GPU. Each graphics core includes a dedicated Neural Accelerator, along with hardware-accelerated ray tracing for 3D rendering and gaming.
Furthermore, graphics tasks run up to twice as fast as on the M4, while applications such as Microsoft Excel run up to 1.5 times faster.
It also has a dual 16-core Neural Engine that delivers up to 5x the on-device AI performance of the M4 and up to 12x that of the M1.
For users upgrading from Intel-based all-in-one machines, Apple says overall system performance is up to 18 times faster.
The system comes with 16GB of unified memory as standard, which can be configured to higher capacities, with memory bandwidth of up to 170GB/s. SSD read and write speeds are double those of previous models.
For video calls, the iMac includes a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, which can show the presenter and a top-down view of the desk at the same time. A studio-quality array of three microphones with beamforming captures audio.

The sound system comprises six speakers, including two pairs of force-cancelling woofers and high-performance tweeters, with support for Spatial Audio and Dolby Atmos playback.
On connectivity, the iMac adds WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 6. An optional 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet port provides wired transfer speeds up to 2.5 times faster.
Depending on the configuration, the rear panel offers up to four Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports, which support fast external storage and up to two external 6K displays in addition to the built-in screen.
The iMac ships with macOS 27 Golden Gate, which integrates Apple Intelligence with the company’s privacy protections.
