Wandering Souls: Finding Stories in the Overlooked

In an era where countless images are stored and forgotten in smartphone galleries, bringing a photograph into the physical realm remains a transformative act. HP Philippines recently collaborated with acclaimed Filipino artist and photographer Geloy Concepcion for the HP INKredible First Show, titled "Wandering Souls." The event took place on October 27, 2026, at Unit 422 in the First United Building located in the historic district of Escolta, Manila. This collaborative workshop and exhibition aimed to bridge the gap between digital mobile photography and fine art.

As part of the HP INKredible Learning Day series, the "First Show" endeavored to provide emerging creatives with the tools, guidance, and space they need to showcase their artistry. By demonstrating the idea that "if you can shoot it, you can print it," HP and Concepcion illustrated how accessible, high-quality printing technology can transform everyday street photography into gallery-ready exhibits.

The exhibition's evocative theme, "Wandering Souls," raised a poignant question: Where do the remnants of our past go when life moves on?

Set against Escolta's rich architectural backdrop, workshop participants took part in a mobile-only photo walk led by Geloy Concepcion. Instead of focusing on grand monuments, attendees were encouraged to observe and capture the beauty of ordinary objects, textures, and overlooked corners that hold personal significance.

After the photo walk, participants worked in pairs to review their shots, select their strongest images with Concepcion's guidance, and pair them with handwritten personal notes that contextualized their creative vision.

Bridging Digital and Physical with HP Smart Tank

The core of the workshop's transformation happened at the HP Print Bar, where participants brought their mobile captures to life using HP Smart Tank printers.

Printing served as an essential, tactile extension of the creative process. To bridge the gap between digital files and museum-grade presentation, the hardware and software ecosystem played a pivotal role:

  • Streamlined Mobile-to-Print Process Using the HP App - Participants easily connected their digital devices to the hardware, using the HP app to manage and execute prints directly from their mobile phones.
  • Outstanding Color Precision and Seamless Borderless Design -  The HP Smart Tank printers feature high-quality color reproduction and borderless printing capabilities, enabling photographers to maximize canvas space, retain fine shadow details, and ensure that images appear pristine right off the tray.
  • Affordable, High-Capacity Refillable Ink System - Featuring HP’s high-capacity refillable ink tank system, these printers offer a practical, low-cost-per-page solution perfect for creative communities, students, and independent artists who want to print extensively without worrying about expensive ink costs.
After printing their images, participants took full ownership of their artistic presentations by mounting their photographs, styling personal notes, designing exhibition nameplates, and assembling certificates of authenticity. They then displayed these completed works along the gallery walls of the First United Building, transforming a room full of emerging hobbyists into an exhibition of fine art photographers.

By combining intuitive software like the HP app with the reliable, high-yield performance of the HP Smart Tank lineup, HP continues to support Filipino creativity. "Wandering Souls" powerfully shows how modern printing technology empowers everyday storytellers to step out from behind their screens and share their unique visions with the world.
