Samsung plans to beat Apple and Huawei's A.I. chips this year!

Today, we learned that Samsung aims to catch-up and even beat those two above-mentioned brands int he mobile A.I. processor game.

According to reports, Samsung is working tirelessly on their own Neural Processing Unit or NPU so that they won't be left behind.

Samsung has been ramping up R&D efforts to develop NPUs by collaborating with outside professionals at the country’s top-rate universities.

In case you missed it, Samsung only started developing their own NPU in the second half of 2017. The NPU is designed to process, analyze and store data even without the need of a cloud server.

But, based on unnamed sources in Korea in a report by the Korean Herald, Samsung has already reached the technological levels of Apple and Huawei.

Samsung seems focused on developing much more efficient and secure chips than existing ones, said Yoo Hoi-jun, a professor at the Korea Advanced Institute of Technology. By learning a lesson from the latest "Intel CPU gate," Samsung would develop AI processors whose architectures are more secure.”

At the second half of the year (around Q3 2018), the company will come up with even better chips than the other two giant smartphone brands.

This report also means that we won't see those advancements in the mobile A.I. game with the upcoming Galaxy S9 series. Instead, we could see it with the Galaxy Note 9 late this year.

What do you think guys?
