Secondary display, dual cam

Meizu is one of the bigger chinese brands that is trying to carve its way into the Philippine market by innovating and providing customers with something new.

The Meizu Pro 7 looks like a normal premium smartphone upfront but once you flipped the phone you will be surprised to find a second display. Yes, there are two AMOLED displays on these phones. Wicked!

The front display is either 5.2 inch or 5.5 inch FHD Super AMOLED display but you are not here for that. The second display is a 2 inch 536 x 240 Super AMOLED Display that has a myriad of functions.

First off, it will show your notifications if the phone is face down. This is very convenient when you are in class or in a meeting. It also shows a step counter, weather widget and time. However, there are two functions that really caught my attention.

The first one is the ability to do a rearfie. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, you can use the rear cameras for a selfie while using the rear window display as a viewfinder. It produces a very high quality selfie since the phone has a dual 12 MP color + 12 MP monochrome camera set up.

The other function is to make your phone as a dedicated music player while the rest of the phone is off. Since Meizu started as a music player developer, they managed to include a feature that will showcase their audio prowess. Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus also has HiFi audio capability too.

Premium feel inside and out

Solid build
Solid build

Now that that's out of the way, let us talk specs and build. The Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus really feel like a premium device with all-metal build. The devices also have a pretty good weight in it that does not feel heavy nor light.

The Pro 7 has a 64-bit Helio P25 octa core processor while the Pro 7 Plus has a 64-bit Helio X30 deca core processor. They 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM as well. The Pro 7 has a Mali T880 GPU while the Pro 7 Plus has a Power VR 7XTP GPU.

Storage is not a problem for these two as the Pro 7 has a 64 GB storage while the Plus has a 128 GB storage.

The dual cameras are practically the same with 12 MP color + 12 MP monochrome Sony IMX386 sensor w/ AF. The selfie camera is identical as well as both sport a 16 MP f/2.0 sensor up front.

The rest of the features

The rest of the specs are pretty much identical between the two. Both has LTE, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, fingerprint sensor and USB Type-C. They both ship with Android 7.0 Nougat w/ Flyme OS 6.0.
