Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2018 is on Aprill 22 at SM MOA Grounds

Dubbed as one of the most anticipated running event in the country, the Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2018 is slated for April 22 at the SM Mall of Asia Grounds.

This running event is now on its 9th year and still reinforces its commitment to the preservation of the planet by calling all "Eco Warriors" to be part of this annual run that coincides with the International Earth Day.

The Philippines has been identified as the third highest plastic polluter in the world. In response to this, the two organizations aim to increase awareness on plastic waste and push programs that focus on plastic waste management by utilizing the proceeds of the highly-anticipated annual run for the environment, said Jose Angelito Palma, WWF President & CEO.

The National Geographic Philippines in partnership with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) Philippines has a goal of 15,000 runners for this year across the 3K, 5K, 10K, and 21K categories. In the run's kick-off event yesterday, April 12, the registered runners were around 11,000 already. 

This year's run has the #NotPlastic campaign that tackel's the country's issue on single-use plastics that pollute oceans and threaten marine biodiversity.

The Nat Geo Earth Day Run 2018 includes the Fun Run for those who will join under the 3K category and encourages more Eco Warriors to participate and champion the environmental causes they believe in.

For those who registered under the 21K category, series of running clinics were available where experts shared warm-up and cool-down sessions in preparation for the upcoming run. The running clinics took place last March 05 & 07 and April 09 & 11 at Track 30th at Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

Registered runners will receive a singlet, race bib, timing chip, water bottle, and towel. And those who will be able to finish the 21K category on the given time on the running event will be able to receive a finisher's medal, and a finisher's shirt, while 10K finishers will receive a finisher's medal.

Registration fees are as follows:

3K Category - PHP 750

5K Category - PHP 850

10K Category - PHP 950

21K Category - PHP 1,400

21K - 3:30am

10K - 4:00am
