Smart and Huawei makes VoWiFi Calling possible in the Philippines
VoWiFi now available for Smart!

VoWiFi also known as WiFi calling allows users to place calls while collected on WiFi using the native dialer of their smartphones without the need of installing third-party applications.

As long as there's WiFi connection, users can enjoy voice and video calls via WiFi.

According to Smart this breakthrough allows customers to enjoy more communication options.

With this breakthrough, we are leading the way to making more communication options available to our customers. We look forward to letting our customers make Wifi calls on PLDT Home and Smart Wifi soon, said Mario G. Tamayo, PLDT and Smart Senior Vice President for Network Planning and Engineering.

This pioneering initiative is a key part of PLDT and Smart's efforts to continuously improve and evolve our voice services, Tamayo said.

Tamayo also noted that this new VoWiFi service is a part of PLDT and Smart's strategy to use both their fixed and wireless netoworks to provide more converged products and deliver better service to their customers.

Moreover, Smart noted that their network is now ready to deliver this technology to everyone.

However, there's no word on the exact timeline of implementation yet.

Last year, Smart also made the first successful VoLTE call in the Philippines.

Stay tuned!
