Computex 2018: MediaTek announces Helio M70, a 5G modem with up to 5Gbps download speed!

At the recently concluded Computex 2018 in Taiwan last week, MediaTek announced the Helio M70 a 5G modem based on TSMC's 7nm process with EUV technology.

MediaTek also stated that they collaborated with Nokia, NTT Cocomo, China Mobile, Huawei, and other vendors. As a result, the M70 has support for 5G NR and has the 3GPP Release 15 standard specification that goes with up to 5Gbps download speeds!

Rick Tsai shared that the company's R&D teams are actively working together to create the best experiences with 5G and AI. Zhou Yujun, the VP of and CTO of of the company also mention that MediaTek has invested in 5G R&D time earlier than 4G.

Obviously, this new 5G modem will be much faster than the current 4G technology.

The company is expected to ship the M70 in 2019.
