Japanese tech firm Nikon has boosted its portfolio with the introduction of its first full-frame mirrorless cameras, challenging Sony which leads this market for so long.

Mirrorless cameras have gained its popularity as users do not need to flip a mirror when taking a photo, which means it is quiet when in use.

The new Nikon Z7 and Z6 boast a full-frame imaging sensor, allowing photography enthusiasts to capture more light even when trying low-light photography. 

The pro-level camera Z7 sports a 45.7-megapixel BSI CMOS sensor, 493 focus points, and 64-25000 ISO. It also has the ability to record 4K UHD videos combined with a built-in 5 axis vibration reduction.

The device has a 3.2-inch touchscreen LCD OLED panel and a 3.69 million dot high-res OLED electronic viewfinder, which the company claimed can cover approximately 100 percent of the frame. 

The Z7 also touts a silent shooting mode. It also comes with 3.5mm headphone jack and a microphone.

The Z6, meanwhile, features a 24.5-megapixel sensor, 273 focus points, 100-51200 ISO, and ability to record 4K video, and even a 10-bit 4k video given its N-log color profile via the HDMI port. 

Nikon is also launching three native Z-mount lenses with the Z7; a 24-70mm f.4.0, 35mm f/1.8 and 50mm f/1.8.

Six more lenses are expected to land in the market next year.

The Z7 will officially be out on September 27 with a price tag of USD 3,400 for the body-only configuration or USD 4,000 as kit with the new Nikkor Z 24-70 f/4 S lens. 

The Z6 will be priced at USD 2,000 and USD 2,600 with the 24-70mm f/4 kit Z-Mount lens.
