Samsung will start mass producing 4-bit consumer SSD

Samsung is mass producing the industry's very first 4-bit quad-level cell 4TB SATA SSD to be made available to the consumers. They promise to provide fast and efficient QLC SSD that is a equivalent to the performance of their 3-bit design.

The 4-bit SSD has a new 1TB V-NAND chip that will be able to let Samsung produce a 128GB memory card for smartphones efficiently. This can then lead to a faster, high performance and high capacity memory storage in the future.

The 4-bit QLC SATA SSD will be able to keep its performance level on par with a 3-bit SSD by using a 3-bit SSD controller and TurboWrite technology. The 4-bit SSD is projected to have a sequential read speed of 540MB/s and a write speed of 520 MB/s. It will also come with a 3-year warranty.

Samsung plan to have a few variants of 4-bit SSDs with sizes from 1TB, 2TB and 4TB. It will be in a 2.5-inch form factor as well.

We do not know the SRP of this SDD yet though. Stay tuned!
