NTC: Udenna-China Telecom consortium is the only qualified for third telco search

The government may finally realize its target to have a new major telco player this November, despite the fact that only one group got qualified in the preliminary round for the bidding.

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said the Mislatel Consortium, composed of Udenna Corp. and China Telecom, was the only qualified in the third telco battle. 

The official 3rd telco in PH soon?

Only three groups submitted bidding documents at the NTC office in Quezon City on Wednesday morning. 

These were PT&T (Philippine Telegraph and Telephone Corp.), LCS-TierOne consortium of Chavit Singson, and Mislatel consortium.

The LCS-TierOne group, however, got disqualified due to lack of participation security, amounting to P700 million. 

PT&T was also not qualified as it failed to submit all requirements, particularly the certification to prove its technical experience, the NTC said.

However, PT&T and LCS-TierOne consortium’s fights are not done yet. 

The two aspiring entrants said in separate interviews that they will file a motion for reconsideration within three days to be able to compete again.
