BOE beats LG as the largest LCD TV and monitor panel manufacturer in the world

Based on a new report from DIGITIMES, BOE just bested LG as the world's largest LCD TV and monitor panel manufacturer in the world.

BOE is now the world's largest LCD TV and monitor panel vendor in the world

Sigmaintell Consulting revealed that in 2018 BOE shipped 54.3 million TV panels and 37.3 million monitor panels. BOE's numbers are bigger than LG's 48.6 million and 34.5 million, respectively.

BOE said that its monitor panel shipments increased 24 percent on year in terms of unit shipments and 45 percent in terms of area shipments in 2018.

Recently, BOE also unseated LG as the main OLED panel supplier for the Huawei Mate 20 Pro. Huawei Mate 20 Pro is one of the world's hottest high-end smartphone. 

However, the competition in the monitor panel sector is expected to heat up in 2019. Industry sources said that it is due to the capacity ramp-ups and aggressive pricing from CEC-Panda LCD Technology and China Star Optoelectronics Technology (CSOT).

The sources added that CEC-Panda will cater to the 21.5, 23.8, and 32.5-inch segments, while CSOT will focus on 21.5, 23.6 and 31.5-inch sectors.

We are sure that LG will not also go down without a fight.
