On paper, its cameras screams decent overall performance despite its budget PHP 5,990 price tag.

Moreover, it could be a respectable shooter in the dark due to its f/1.8 primary lens and the selfie camera with Huawei's selfie toning flash technology that uses both the screen and a dedicated softlight LED flash for selfies.

Quick thoughts

For the price, Huawei Y5 2019 is a respectable camera phone.

Its 13MP primary camera is capable of taking images packed with plenty of details and less noise in daylight.

There are just some scenes where it needs to improve the highlights and dynamic range. Its HDR is a hit or miss. It could be work well with against the light shots, but it might shoot grainy-looking images as well.

Indoor shots are mostly good too. I also like its close to natural color reproduction. The exposure control in some scenes are considered as quite great as well.

The low light shots by its primary camera are mostly fine, but do not expect it to be great. Expect grain, loss of details, and a slightly voiletish tint.

For selfies, its 5MP shooter is spectacular at this price point. It got highly detailed images with accurate colors in daylight. Indoor shots are mostly good as well. The against the light selfie has some sort of violetish discolorization.

Low light selfies are grainy and soft. But with the help of the selfie toning flash system, it can take decent selfies with good colors even in the dark.
