It helps provide an engaging and digital way for teachers to conduct class activities.

Why? Without the proper gear, the potential of this style of teaching is wasted. Is why Smart reached out to 50 multigrade schools in Eastern Visayas to provide them with the School-in-a-Bag portable digital classrooms.

This is a joint project between Smart, UNICEF Philippines and the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization Regional Center for Educational Innovation and Technology.

The schools will receive a weather-proof backpack with a teacher's laptop and tablet, Smart Pocket WiFi, projector and screen, a DVD player and student tablets pre-installed with educational apps developed by Smart.

All beneficiaries receive teacher training and program evaluation while off-grid schools with no electricity are given a solar panel, battery and TV on top of the items mentioned earlier.

The flagship Learn Smart program’s partnership with UNICEF and SEAMEO INNOTECH supports an initiative of the Department of Education (DepEd) dubbed as Strengthening Delivery of Multigrade Program in Region 8.

The six-year project is intended to improve access to quality learning for disadvantaged children in poor, remote and contextually challenged school-communities in the country.
