It might be a bit bigger and thicker than the original version but it retains what Samsung aimed for which is a compact, durable, minimal, gorgeous smartwatch. It also has four colors in black, silver, gold and lily gold.

The Galaxy Active2 also has more features than its predecessor. It brings back the spinning outer dial that is a hit back in older Galaxy watches. But, this time it is not a physical bezel, it is now a haptic-response touch bezel.

It has a new ECG sensor which is, as of the moment, not yet medically cleared, better heart rate monitor and an accelerometer.

There's also an expected LTE version as well. The new touch controls are said to be more responsive. Google Translate is also integrated on the Watch Active2.

The Watch Active2 runs Tizen OS still. This Samsung's own software and ecosystem that is separate from the Google Play Store and Android. Samsung will now sync your logins on your smartphone app so that you don't have to repeat it on the Active2.

Price and availability

The Active2 comes in two sizes, the 40mm variant for USD 280 (around PHP 14.5K) and 44mm for USD 300.

It is expected to be released on September 27. Local availability is yet to be confirmed but we will update you as soon as we have more information.
